Back in Training

I can honestly say that I am training.  For the past 3.5 weeks, I've put in 4 days per week of strength training interspersed with squash drills.  The knees for the first time felt strong and took to the machines without any aches and pains.  This Tuesday squash practice was also the first where I moved around the court with some springs in my steps and no weakness in the knees.  Today I completed my first aerobic routine on the stationary bike; 20 minutes of 1 minute intervals.  The top heart rate was 162 and the bottom was 153 after 20 minutes.

During this time, I also modified my swing a bit.  The three key points are:

1) left arm extended
2) dropping the shoulder
3) rotating the torso

The snap in the follow through and hitting up make up the rest of the modified swing.  The result is more power.  The down side has to be adjusting the rest of my game to having a new swing.  I'm tempted to take this swing for every shot that comes my way when it clearly is a swing for only shots that I have time to prepare for.  The result has been a lot of mishits on volleys, half volleys, drop shots.  Part of my drills now must include practicing different swings and switching between them.
