Putting winning and losing into proper perspective

I want to internalize a bit of wisdom that comes from Rafa Nadal who just won his seventh French Open title, the most by any man in tennis history. It speaks to the nature of success and how to put failure into perspective.

'I gonna try to keep having chances to win, produce chances to win. I produced a lot of chances to win last year, but I lost almost every one.'

Often times players focus too much on winning every match, every practice game, and against every opponent.  The reality is reflected in what Rafa said.  You can't win every time.  It's impossible.  Thinking about winning is a distraction.  Instead, focus on executing everything you have learned in training.  Focus on executing every technique consistently.  Every time you execute well, you produce another chance to win.  The more chances you give yourself, the higher the probability of success.  That is the crux of what Rafa said.
