The video of the solo drills were useful. I determined from them where my backhand prep was going wrong. Despite Niki's constant reminder to bring the racquet grip up to my head, I've been taking it back to my side first before raising it to my head. I can only explain it as disbelieving Niki. I think I subconsciously thought it was impossible to do what she asked and still hit the ball right. Not until I saw myself on the video do I realize what Niki wanted me to do and what Kim had said about my awkward preparation. Well like people say, you have to see it to believe it.
I see also I have to work on strengthening my quads to develop more power off my feet. As well as working on retreating quickly.
On the retreat, I saw in the squashlive DVD's that the pro's retreat to their side and to face the side they hit the ball to. That makes a lot of sense since you expect the other player will be moving to where you hit the ball and you have to keep your eyes on the ball at all times.
I'll have to do more ghosting, maybe 4 times a week until I get the hang of the proper movement.
sigh...
