Failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)

How does my squash performance fall apart?  Yesterday I prepared for my match by getting jazzed up. I thought positively leading up to the game, I listened to high energy music just before I played, and I pumped my heart rate up by sprinting on the stationary bike for 5 minutes. All of this was an effort to keep the possum away from the match.  It worked!

The effect was a hyperactive mind that couldn't focus.  The failure mode in this case was excessive errors. I served out and volleyed into the floor.  What I did not have trouble with was activating my feet. Which is the failure mode associated with the possum.

What this tells me is I am doing the right thing to keep the possum away, but I need to do something more to calm the hyperactive mind too.
